Advanced Video Recording Settings
For fleets that require more specific or precise settings for video recording, we are introducing a new set of options to allow fleets to individually set quality and FPS values in the Video options for Fleet Profiles.
Rosco recommends using the preset Recording Quality values as these are tuned for the best performance of the camera for the chosen preset option
Enabling Advanced Quality Settings will allow you to input values manually for FPS and Quality for each channel.
- FPS - The frames-per-second the channel will record video in. This can be set from 1 to 30.
- Quality - The definition quality the channel will record video in. This can be set from 1 to 5 with 5 being best quality.
Additionally, there are two sets of values available - Recording Quality and Parking Mode Quality. The Recording Quality settings are used when the camera is in normal operation (aka Driving Mode) and the Parking Mode Quality settings are used when the camera is in Parking Mode if the profile also has Parking Mode enabled, otherwise these settings are ignored.
The link icon next to the FPS settings indicates if the FPS values between normal operation and Parking Mode are in sync or not. When linked together, the FPS values will mirror each other when changing the Recording Quality FPS value. By clicking the link, it will change to a pink unlinked icon to indicate that the FPS values can be set independently.
If the FPS values are unlinked and you wish to re-link them so they are the same, simply click the pink unlinked icon again and it will automatically link and match the FPS settings so they are the same, and click Save to save your changes.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rosco highly recommends keeping these values linked to maximize video capture continuity when camera changes between Drive and Park modes.
By increasing Parking Mode FPS, this will impact video file sizes - decreasing the amount of video your SD card is able to store in a given time before overwriting occurs. The recording time calculator within the Video tab when editing a Settings Profile will inform you of the change in hours recorded. This reduction can be off-set by
1. Reducing Parking mode duration
2. Reducing the overall synced FPS
3. Investing in a larger SD card
It should be noted that the Recording Quality FPS and Parking Mode Quality FPS settings will be different values for already existing profiles, while these will be linked together by default in newly created profiles after this update.
